The A2-level Estonian language proficiency exam (eesti keele A2-taseme tasemeeksam) is the state language exam organised by HARNO, the Education and Youth Board of Estonia. It tests four skills — writing, listening, reading and speaking — and is scored out of 80 points, 20 per skill.

Each of the four parts is worth 20 points, for 80 in total. You pass with at least 60% of the total, and no single part may score zero — so you cannot skip speaking or writing and make up the points elsewhere.

The written parts are held in one block of roughly one hour and 50 minutes: about 30 minutes for writing, about 30 minutes for listening and 50 minutes for reading. Speaking is held separately and takes about 15 minutes.

Reading has five tasks (replies, matching statements to short texts, understanding notices, a longer text, and a gap-fill). Listening has four (multiple choice, true/false, short answers, matching). Writing has two (transferring details from a card, and a short message or description). Speaking has two (describing a picture with follow-up questions, and an idea-card conversation).
